The Centre was established in the year 1979. There is hostel facility for 50 Bunk Beds With Six rooms. It is functioning under overall control of the Deputy Commissioner Lahoul and Spiti under single-line administration system. The Centre provides rescue facilities to tribal people and other pedestrians by establishing two rescue posts at Khoksar and Marhi in winter season.
